network

Expius defines 2 parts in a network: hardware and software. The hardware part is all the equipment as hubs, routers, servers, workstations etc. The software is the OS (operation system), servers, protocols, administrative utilities to control the network, etc.

Expius is a Microsoft Solution Provider and will only implement networks based on Microsoft OS technology.  Seamless migration from Unix, MAC, or Novel to Microsoft Windows NT has been a savior to Expius and many of our clients.  These migration to Windows NT has allowed a greater flexibility, expansion, software variety, and lower cost to our clients.

Expius has implemented highly sophisticated network and office solution with Microsoft OS that we like to qualify as "Fortune 500 Solution" for a fraction of the cost of any other system.
hardware

The infrastructure of a network is an important factor for success .  The stability, speed and scalability of a network is directly dependent on its implementation.  Because a network is a dynamic entity, it is different for every business.  According to the needs of a business, Expius will design the most comprehensive solution optimizing the throughput of the network and its functionality.

Maintenance will be drastically reduce in many ways.  Loss of data, because of slow or unresponsive network, crashes of client workstations due to connection loss,  network printers congested or getting offline, erratic behavior  or many other ghosts that inhabit the network are reduce to a strict minimum.

A well planned network will allow any kind of growth without restructuring the entire existing system hence limiting the heavy cost of such an operation.

Expius will setup coaxial, 10/100MB auto-sensing network, routers (Cisco), ISDN, Cable-Modem, Dial-up Modem, Satellite or Microwave (Speed-Choice), T1 LAN and WAN networks.

Most networks Expius designs will allow some type of remote accessibility whether through a dial-up or Internet connection, for maintenance and administration guarantying a fast response for support during any time of the day or night.
software

The Expius standard setup for a 5 to a 100 nodes network is one Primary domain controller server with Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or 2000 Advance Server with Microsoft NT 4.0 Workstation.  The TCP/IP network protocol is used to communicate between the server, workstations and Internet. The IPX/SPX protocol may be used for compatibility with some older network devices or to tie-up a Windows NT Server to a Novel Server. In conjunction with the TCP/IP protocol usually we install a DHCP Server allocating dynamically IP addresses to all workstations on the network limiting our time and effort in address management. We also install a WIN Server that matches the IP addresses of each node to their BIOS name. The combination of these servers transforms your network into almost a living entity requiring little interventions. This basic setup takes care of all files sharing and network resources as printers, scanners, fax, etc.

If the clients requires email, a centralize connection to the Internet, and a corporate database we would then install Microsoft BackOffice 4.5 (http://www.microsoft.com/backoffice). BackOffice is a series of servers as:

The heart of Expius network setup happens on the server where everything is centralized and organized for administration. For more administrative and configuration tools we would use Microsoft SMS (system management server). http://www.microsoft.com/smsmgmt
